Originally from Santa Barbara, CA, Alexander had never written or played music until he got a guitar as a gift for his 21st birthday. A highly ranked amateur baseball player at the time, Tommy quit the sport, dropped out of college, and threw himself into writing and performing music full time.
Since then, he’s released three full-length LPs, two EPs and founded an artist collective and record label. His new album, Old News (Su Casa Records) was produced by Mike Coykendall (M. Ward, Blitzen Trapper, She and Him, Bright Eyes) and features guest appearances by Robert Burger (Iron and Wine) and Jay Cobb Anderson (Fruition). Old News combines groovy beats with traditional folk influences, mixing modern sounds with meaningful messages.

Rachel Garcia and Thu Tran met in the winter of 2006, as students of San Francisco State University at an open mic night at the now defunct Canvas Gallery Café. Some years later, on a road trip up the coast of California to Oregon, on the Pacific Coast Highway, they were inspired to write their first song together, which led to the formation of the band. In the fall of 2009 they recorded their independently produced, 5-song debut EP at Amadeo Studios in the Bay Area.
